**thank you for bearing with us through this delay in information. between the present smoke and the coming holiday we wanted to be intentional about when we invited folks into fellowship. If you plan to join us this Sunday please travel with a filtration mask to prevent excessive exposure to harmful particles from the wildfires.
It was wonderful to see folks last month for our study of bell hooks!
*here's what we're envisioning the 3 hours will look like:
First 30 mins//arriving, mingling with food, dancing
Second 30 mins//embodied meditation
Third 30 mins//invocation for this month's theorists & setting the stage
Fourth 30 mins//small group study
Fifth 30 mins//share back/discussion/freewrite
Sixth 30 mins//regrounding
<come when you can//invocation and small group study starts around 12pm>
we want to emphasize that our study group is about engaging with the work of black feminist thinkers in ways that move beyond just reading and writing. so, you are in no way required to read or print anything in advance. that said, we still want to share materials by the thinkers we'll be studying. In the folder we created [Patricia Hill Collins Folder] there are a few essays and several books by her for your enrichment. Feel free to check out the quotes doc of quotes we’re going to study at Church. Below you’ll find a video of Dr. Collins talking about her relationship to the academy and innovative knowledge production (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxH6fa97Rn4)
food/drinks to share
your own utensils and plate if possible
some containers for leftovers
a notebook/journal and writing utensils that inspire you
all of you
